When you go to Golden Corner Family Practice for an annual exam, your physician conducts a complete physical, which includes examining blood pressure, weight, height, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, throat, thyroid, chest, abdomen, and rectum. A nurse takes blood samples to ensure normal kidney, liver, and other body functions. The staff maintains an onsite lab where technicians will analyze your blood samples.
Gynecological Exam
Your doctor performs a complete gynecological exam. You receive a pelvic examination during which your physician checks your uterus and ovaries; the doctor also conducts a Pap smear. If by chance your Pap smear shows some abnormalities, your doctor performs a colposcopy, another in-office test similar to a Pap smear. It takes a closer look at your cervix and the surrounding cells. Pap smears and colposcopies are life-saving tests because they detect precancerous cells and cervical cancer.
